Travel Information
Madison, and more specifically University of Wisconsin-Madison, are are easily accessible via car, bus, and plane.
Flights: The closest airport to University of Wisconsin-Madison is the Dane County Regional Airport (MSN), which is approximately a 15 minute drive or a 30 bus ride from the university.
Alternatively, participants may find it preferable to fly into Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD). From Chicago, CoachUSA provides frequent shuttles that one can take to arrive in Madison.
Madison Busses: The city of Madison provides bus services throughout Madison and some outlying areas. These busses are cash fare only, unless one has purchased a bus pass with adequate fare loaded. See the city of Madison metro transit page for more information.
Dorm Information
For selected participants, dorm reservations have been made for stay at Leopold Hall from June 29 - July 5. Information about the reservation is provided below.

Check-in will be at The Holt Center (West Entrance).

The front desk is typically manned from 6:30am - 10:30pm. From 6/29-6/30, The Holt Center front desk will be manned all day.

Leopold Hall is located .6mi from the Van Vleck building and mathematics department of UW-Madison. It is a ~13min walk.

Leopold Hall has several lounges on each floor with access to a kitchen (stove, microwave, fridge) and laundry room (washer, dryer). Kitchen utensils need to be rented from the front desk for use.

Each room is provided with a mattress and linens. Rooms do not include a towel.

Gendered and genderless restrooms and showers are located throughout each floor.

Check-out will be at 12pm on 7/5, at the latest.
Hotel Information
There are several hotels in the Madison area that are within walking distance of University of Wisconsin - Madison. Some economical options are provided below.
Food Recommendations
During lunch hours, there is a variety of food trucks stationed outside of the University Book Store. Past these food trucks is State Street, which hosts a large variety of restaurants and leads to the Madison capitol building. Some local Madison restaurants that may be of interest are listed below.
Local Attractions
The city of Madison is a vibrant city filled with sights and events for everyone. We note the following attractions that may be of interest:
- The University of Wisconsin-Madison's Memorial Union Terrace lies along Lake Mendota and houses a number of restaurants. A short walk along the pier leads to some short trails along the lakeside.
- The Dane County Farmer's Market runs each Saturday in the city center during the summer. Many local Madison food staples can be found at the farmer's market and in its vicinity.
- The Olbrich Botanical Gardens feature 16 acres of land that homes a conservatory and over 20 gardens with hundreds of different plants and flowers.
- The Chazen Museum of Art is located just off of campus and is open daily with free admission. The museum hosts approximately 25,000 works of art.
- There are several hiking trails throughout the Madison area. The University of Wisconsin-Madison Arboretum offers over 17 miles of such trails, only a short drive south of the university
